Welcome!
The networked environment is changing the ways scholars seek information, communicate, collaborate, publish and disseminate their work. Scholarly Communication @ SJSU provides information about issues in scholarly communication including author rights, new models of publishing including open access, institutional repositories, rights and access to federally funded research, and preservation of intellectual assets.
This wiki serves to facilitate the SJSU Academic Senate Task Force to Investigate Open Access to Faculty and Student Publications in fulfilling its charge as identified in Sense of the Senate Resolution SS-S08-3.

Heather Joseph is the executive director of the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC), at the forefront of the open access movement. This includes onlineinstitutional repositories, open access journals and funding agency mandates (such as by NIH) to disseminate information.
Ms. Joseph has now visited SJSU twice to talk about the key issues of open access.
